HU-FIS-Profil ↗Developing countries are continuing to lose comparative advantage in the production of food. The reason is that foood which meets the quality standards of developed countries is both capital and human capital intensive. Therefore, the project aims at analyzing the potential of FDI on the competitiveness of food production in Ghana. FDI are considered not only to provide capital but also human capital and access to international marketing channels.
Food quality standards play an ever increasing role in food and agricultural production and trade. Therefore the project aims at analyzing the impact of EU private sector and government quality standards on different tomato producer groups. The project will test the hypothesis that standard benefit large scale producers, leaving small scale producers with limited access to markets.
The objective of the project is to determine the possible trade creation and diversion which would result from trade preference agreements between selected Arab countries
