Dr. Violeta Trkulja erforscht, wie Geflüchtete und Migrant:innen in Deutschland bei der Jobsuche, Ausbildung oder Weiterbildung das Internet nutzen und welche digitalen Fähigkeiten sie dabei einsetzen. Sie untersucht systematisch, wie diese Gruppen Informationen online suchen und welche Schwierigkeiten sie bei unterschiedlich komplexen Aufgaben im Netz bewältigen. Die Forschung kombiniert quantitative und qualitative Methoden und liefert damit konkrete Erkenntnisse für Arbeitsmarktintegration, Beratungsangebote und die Gestaltung von digitalen Informationsressourcen für vulnerable Gruppen.

• Understanding the Information Seeking Behaviour and Digital Skills of Refugee Migrants during the Job Seeking Process

  The proposed study examines the information seeking behaviour of refugee migrants in Germany while pursuing a job, a training position, or following an educational path on the Internet. Competencies of refugees are positioned on the digital skill scale and analysed how they approach information-seeking tasks with different difficulty levels on the Internet. The study triangulates quantitative and qualitative methods and contributes to a better understanding of the varying degrees of digital skills of migrant refugees that can be used to design targeted courses and curricula that address online deficits. This will enable refugees to benefit from the many opportunities that arise through the Internet and its services, improving chances for labour market integration.

• Linked data mapping cultures: an evaluation of metadata usage and distribution in a linked data environment

  In this paper, we present an analysis of metadata mappings from different providers to a Linked Data format and model in the domain of digitized manuscripts. The DM2E model is based on Linked Open Data principles and was developed for the purpose of integrating metadata records to Europeana. The paper describes the differences between individual data providers and their respective metadata mapping cultures. Explanations on how the providers map the metadata from different institutions, different domains and different metadata formats are provided and supported by visualizations. The analysis of the mappings serves to evaluate the DM2E model and provides strategic insight for improving both mapping processes and the model itself.

• Eine interdisziplinäre Forschungsfeldklassifikation für die Wissenschaft

  Zusammenfassung In einem 2020 durchgeführten Kooperationsprojekt zwischen der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin und dem Deutschen Zentrum für Hochschul- und Wissenschaftsforschung (DZWH) ist eine Forschungsfeldklassifikation entstanden, die problembezogene und interdisziplinäre Forschung in Deutschland abbildet. Ziel dieser Klassifikation ist es, Forschungsberichterstattung basierend auf disziplinorientierten Fächersystematiken innerhalb des Kerndatensatz Forschung sinnvoll zu ergänzen und somit der einem ständigen Wandel unterliegenden Forschung Rechnung zu tragen. Die Klassifikation ist in einem intellektuellen Prozess mittels Card-Sorting entstanden und hat vorhandene Forschungsklassifikationen, Forschungsfeldlisten und aktuelle Forschungsprojekte als Grundlage herangezogen. Die umfassende Einbeziehung von Stakeholdern bei der Entwicklung der Klassifikation soll deren Akzeptanz steigern und einen vielfältigen Einsatz ermöglichen.
